The NextGen 5.5 kW marine diesel generator makes a very reliable power source for off-grid cruising, or running air conditioning for a hot afternoon on the water. Quiet and easy to maintain, the UCM2-5.5 or UCM2-5.5E is a great choice for medium size yachts. This generator offers plenty of power for most boats that use twin 30 amp shore power circuits.

Simple to maintain, and easy on the wallet, this is a great little genset for smaller vessels. If the mounting base is at or below the waterline (heeled or otherwise), you will need to install a vented loop to protect the generator and prevent flooding your boat. If your boat is a high-speed planing hull, the added hydrodynamic pressure while on plane can be enough to force water into the generator if it is not running. Get in the habit of closing the seacock when the generator is not in use.

We recommend a round strainer on the hull (never a scoop!) to keep large debris (sargassum, jellyfish, shopping bags) from blocking the water intake.

Please note: If you are installing on a boat that has gasoline engines for the main propulsion, you need to order with the Ignition Protection option.
Remember to never store portable gasoline containers below deck.

* 120/240 VAC, 4-Wire installation requires additional circuit protection and load balancing within 600 watts.

Special Order Only. Usually ships in 1-2 weeks.
